Learning new thing everyday…

November 10th, 2008 Filed under: Random Thoughts by d.andorf

For those if you who knows me… you know that I was a spoiled brat growing up with maids & schauffer in our household. Till my mom kicked me out from her house and “shipped” me to Iowa… the place that I called home now.. and moved to Iowa was a big learning process for me.  I learned how to do laundry from my brother…

I even put the water in the coffee pot and waiting for the water to turn black.. yes.. first time using a coffee machine.. and yes my brother LOVES to tell everyone about this story.

So anyway, I never care or actually never knew how to fold fitted bed sheet before.. so I googled it and found this video.. Yes.. you guys can laugh at me… but at least now I know how to fold fitted sheet.. :D hah!

Here’s the video for people who like me.. doesn’t know how to fold a fitted bed sheet:

Vote Vote Vote!

November 4th, 2008 Filed under: Random Thoughts by d.andorf

Alright people! go vote! :)

It’s funny how people back home thinks that today is a day off for everyone since it’s voting day today.  Because back home in Indonesia, voting day is a holiday. Everyone get a day off to go vote.

No… we don’t get day off… and the voting has been going on for the past month, and you can go vote anywhere and you can also mail your vote too.  So there’s no excuse to have a day off, and I think in Iowa voting won’t take too long.. max probably 1-2 hrs. Plus they have the voting place open from 7am-7pm.

Anyway.. go vote people… please… :D

From STARMAN

Here’s Carson’s costume that I made from scratch! if you don’t know who’s Starman, starman is one of the pro-wrestling game. If you’re born in the 70s or 80s, you might recall this game, it was so famous from the first generation Nintendo.

Here’s the screenshot of the game:

Am I getting old??

October 25th, 2008 Filed under: Random Thoughts by d.andorf

I used to be not care much about politics.  But this year, even tho I still have no rights to vote since I’m only a permanent resident.  I really feel that everyone that has the rights to vote.. please do vote! if you don’t want.. can I vote for you??? :D

Anyway, last night Carson was so bursting in flame after hearing Gov. Palin speech about the special needs policies.

“That’s more than the shortfall to fully fund the IDEA,” she said. “And where does a lot of that earmark money end up? It goes to projects having little or nothing to do with the public good — things like fruit fly research in Paris, France, or a public policy center named for the guy who got the earmark. In our administration, we’re going to reform and refocus. We’re going to get our federal priorities straight, and fulfill our country’s commitment to give every child opportunity and hope in life.”

I bet a lot of genetics students in ISU bursting in flame right now too, I know some people that actually works at the Lab here in ISU who’s studying fruit flies.  Does Palin even know that fruit flies… They share almost 70% of human genes.

This is dangerous.. she seems doesn’t even know what she’s talking about.. PLUS you think someone will actually read through her speech and did some research about it before she open her mouth in public?

Anyway.. I admit is.. she’s really pretty… good looking.. but that’s not what United States looking for in Vice President..

ARGHHH!!!!! sorry… I just had to let it out…

Halloween Costume

October 24th, 2008 Filed under: Carissa, Random Thoughts by d.andorf

I finally get it done!!! Carson’s costume it is…

I’m not a big halloween fans.. I think the reason behind it is just because I didn’t grew up with Halloween.  I don’t really care about the party.. ot the costume.  But when Carissa alrady 3 yrs old, maybe she can go trick or treating.

The idea of go door to door asking for candies just bothers me.  I don’t mind giving out candies.. but asking for candies from people that we don’t know… that sounds like a beggar to me.

Oh well.. Icha for sure can go trick or treating later when she understand what’s going on.. but not this year.

I still need to make shoes for baby gifts for my former co worker.. I think she’s due anytime now.. still debating which one should I make for her.

okay.. icha is awake now… have a nice weekend…

Stay at Home or Working Mom?

October 5th, 2008 Filed under: Family, Random Thoughts, Work by d.andorf

While I was sewing more shoes downstairs, I was thinking.. did I do the right thing by staying at home my lil princess?  I’m not really sure how I feel.. sometimes I feel I have wasted my 4 yrs degree.. but actually not really wasted.. but not use it to the max.  I still do a LOT of graphic design work.. but I just don’t feel like I do since I do my design while wearing my pajamas.. no make-up,  wear my glasses while Carissa screaming wanted to sit on my lap while I do my work.

Anyway, day care is not an option for me, maybe I’m an old fashioned mom on this subject. I feel like.. leaving my kid in the day care is like handed my responsibility as a mom to someone else.. a stranger in fact.  Nothing against day care.. I know my friends who run a home day care do a great job with activities and all that stuff. I calculated.. if I work full time, I would make about $2K nett (yeah that low!) and half of them will go to the day care if I put Carissa in a day care. So I’m thinking.. enjoying my extra $1K but missing a lot of stuff with icha.. or stop shopping and be home with icha.

I prefer living pay check by pay check but still spending time my day with my baby.

I know some of moms out there have no other options than working full time.. I’m so impressed by them. I don’t think I can do it.. seeing Carissa only when she wakes up, and only see her 1-4 hr a day during weekdays. Wow..

Anyway, I’m just thinking out loud here… don’t mean to offend anyone… and again I want to say thank you for Carson who always supports in whatever decision I make.  I feel so fortunate to be able to stay at home with my lil one.

I love my life.. and I won’t change it for the world.. (well.. maybe if someone would hire me for at least $80K/year) :D

3 yrs or 4 yrs

October 3rd, 2008 Filed under: Random Thoughts by d.andorf

I have so many moms friends that has 2 children or more telling me NOT to have child 1-2 yrs apart.  So I (yes I, not we… I.. destri.. me..) decided to wait till Carissa turn 3 and have another one.  I’m sorry Cars… but this is my decision, since I (yes I, not we, nit his, not her) am the one who will be pregnant for 10 mos and will be the one who taking care of them most of the times…

So yeah.. either 3 or 4 yrs apart I should say, so I don’t have to worry potty training Carissa while breast feeding the other one.

That’s my decision.. please don’t you ever try to change that! :D HAH! :D I want to enjoy my time with Carissa for now…
